PILEDYN (PILE group linear DYNamic analysis)

PILEDYN is a software package for PILE group linear DYNamic analysis in the frequency domain based on an advantageous BEM-FEM model for soil-pile interaction:

The software package is comprised of three modules:
  • Pre-processor: GUI-based (MATLAB) or command-line file-based (MATLAB/Octave).
  • Solver: command-line file-based (executables for 64-bit GNU/Linux or Windows).
  • Post-processor: command-line file-based (MATLAB/Octave).
  • In the present version 1.0, it obtains impedance functions of pile groups with one quarter symmetry.

    Important remarks:

    • The software documentation including a manual and a tutorial is included in the compressed file.
    • The RAM memory required for running the solver depends on the number of degrees of freedom, which mainly depends on the number of soil layers, the shear phase velocity of each layer, and the maximum frequency. Depending on the problem, it would require some Gb of memory.
    • Executables using LAPACK library only use one core when solving the linear systems of equations. On the other hand, executables using ATLAS library use all available cores when solving the linear systems of equations. Thus, the latter are recommended. We would like to thank people developing and providing LAPACK and ATLAS.
    • The surface meshes can be generated by two external tools: MESH2D or Gmsh; which are launched at the pre-processing stage. You have to download at least one of them in order to run the pre-processor. We would like to thank people involved in both open-source projects.
